Thanks to over £100m in European Social Funded projects awarded to Calderdale College, 90,000 qualifications have been delivered to more than 23,000 employers through one of the largest partnerships in the country.
West Yorkshire Consortium of College (WYCC) has been responsible for securing significant funding in the last fourteen years which has resulted in companies such as Enabled Works growing directly from the benefits of training.
Tina Brown Managing Director at Enabled Works in Leeds comments on the impact of the funding;
“The funding has significantly helped us get the people trained up in areas that we needed to move our business forward…without the funding we wouldn’t have been able to do the training at all. We have been able to push the business forward; people are trained in areas that attract better business. It’s helped us grow the business and keep people in employment.”
Northern Powerhouse
At a celebration event to mark the success of the partnership, Louise Tearle, Partnership Director explained:
“These projects have been delivered through one of the most diverse partnerships in the country; which has allowed local delivery through bespoke and sector specific training. The geographical spread is huge with providers from Warrington to Hull, Carlisle to Birmingham and everywhere in between; we have worked with Colleges, Universities and Private Training Providers throughout the North of England…I would call that a real Northern Powerhouse.”
Looking to the future, Louise commented:
“The skills landscape will change … but the partnership will continue to go from strength to strength”
